Millions Take to Streets Worldwide as ‘No Kings’ Protest Targets Trump Policies (X)

Protest in America: Millions of people in America and around the world took to the streets on Saturday. All these people are raising slogans of “No Kings.” This wave of protest against the policies of Donald Trump has now taken a global form. This movement is part of the ongoing campaign against the migration, education, and security policies of the Trump administration. According to The Guardian, these demonstrations are expected to take place at more than 2,700 locations. From small towns to big cities, people are raising their voices against the Trump administration.

“Trump is not a king.”

The coalition called ‘No Kings,’ which had also organized massive demonstrations in June, has once again appealed to the people to take to the streets to send the message that “Donald Trump is no king.” The purpose of the movement is to protest against the increasing authoritarianism in the Trump administration. Meanwhile, military presence has been increased in many American cities against the wishes of local authorities. Trump has also warned of taking strict measures to suppress dissent.

What is the 'No Kings' movement?

'No Kings' is a coalition of left-leaning organizations that is organizing protests across the US against the policies of the Trump government. This movement has been named “No Kings” so that a clear message can be given that there is no king or autocratic ruler in America. This is a symbolic protest against Trump's increasing centralization and authoritarian attitude.

The movement's official website, nokings.org, reads, "No Kings is not just a slogan, but the foundation of our country. It was born on the streets, echoed with the voices of millions of people, and is now uniting the entire country against dictatorship."

In which cities the demonstrations are taking place

According to organizers, more than 2,500 protests have been scheduled in all 50 US states. Some major cities have been selected as anchor cities for this “Day of Action,” which include Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, New York, Houston, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, and Honolulu. The demonstrations will start at different times in different cities.
Support of more than 200 organizations

This movement has received the support of more than 200 organizations. Key partners include organizations such as Indivisible, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and Public Citizen. Organizers say that this movement is being run to protect democracy and labor rights.

Why is there a protest?

Organizers said the protest was against the “dictatorial tendencies” and “corruption” of the Trump government. Protesters allege that the Trump administration has implemented policies like mass deportations, cuts to health care, gerrymandering, and favoring billionaires that have neglected ordinary families.

The ‘No Kings’ movement describes itself as pro-democracy and pro-worker. Its website says –
“If you are outraged by attacks on civil rights, troubled by rising inflation, concerned by incidents of forced kidnapping or disappearance, or appalled by attacks on free speech — this is the moment for you. Whether you have been in this fight for years or are just now standing up, now is the time to act.”
